SkySpan™ SAMA VSAT

The SkySpan VSAT Terminal can be deployed anywhere in the world to provide premium Internet access and IP connectivity. Together, the SkySpan Router (indoor unit), the SkyTCP™ Software (TCP acceleration), and the SkySpan Outdoor Unit enable the SkySpan VSAT Terminal to efficiently provide IP Networking at the maximum speed wherever needed and whenever desired.

SkySpan ROUTER

The Cerona Networks® SkySpan Router is a custom single-board design using an IBM® PowerPC® processor running embedded Linux, which resides in solid-state flash memory. The satellite modem includes an integrated 10/100 BaseT Ethernet router that supports from one to many users across both wired and wireless LANs. The auto-ranging internal power supply supports a wide range of power amplifiers and dish sizes for either a C, Ku, Ka ro X-band configuration. Fitting neatly inside a 1U-sized enclosure, the SkySpan Router omni-mounting system makes it ideal for desktop, rack mount, or wall mount installations.

SkyTCP™ ACCELERATION SOFTWARE

SkyTCP software is a fully transparent solution that increases throughput of TCP traffic over a geostationary satellite channel. Based on open standards, SkyTCP software monitors the characteristics of IP traffic over satellite, refining the behavior of the TCP protocol. A SkyTCP software enabled network ensures maximum efficiency and reliability for IP traffic over satellite.

SkySpan™ OUTDOOR UNIT

Available for C, Ku, Ka or X-band installations, the SkySpan Outdoor Unit is delivered as a complete package with antennas that range in size from 75 centimeters to 2.4 meters and includes the feed assembly, dual grounding blocks, azimuth/elevation mounting hardware, and coaxial cables for connection to the SkySpan Router. Electronics include a DRO LNB and a 2- or 5-watt C-band block upconverter or a 1-, 2-, or 4-watt Ku/Ka-band block upconverter.
