11/2007: Cerona Network’s SkyDSR-DTTM Selected by Leading Defense Company

Department of Defense to utilize technology for mission critical information.

FREDERICK, Md. — Nov. 27, 2007 — Cerona Networks Corporation, the company that delivers intelligent solutions for cost effective and reliable satellite communications systems, announced today that a billion-dollar leading defense company (“defense company”) has selected Cerona’s SkyDSR-DT as the service replacement of its Integrated Receiver Decoder expressly for the multicast of IP video, audio and data products to the warfighter. The Cerona receiver will become the DVB-S/S2 standard for its entire ground-based receive systems.

Moving forward, the defense company intends to integrate the SkyDSR-DT into all new production orders. Program requirements call for a purchase of up to 500 new systems, as well as the upgrade of approximately 600 deployed systems.

“Our sale of the SkyDSR-DT technology to a leading defense provider is another step to secure a leadership position in the digital satellite receiver and VSAT markets and bolsters our credibility and track record of providing cutting-edge technologies,” commented Mitch Robinson, president and CEO of Cerona. He continued, “This product is one of the most robust digital satellite receivers available on the market offering more than 30 percent improvement in data rates. The cost of upgrading to a DVB-S2 is an excellent business decision, as the product is extremely cost-efficient and immediately lowers operational costs of any satellite-based network.”

The SkyDSR-DT meets the defense company’s mission-specific requirements to receive information from two satellites simultaneously via a dual tuner receiver. Its multicasting capabilities allow users to filter information in real time. Added benefits include onboard Type II data encryption and its capability to be remotely controlled.

Paul Morrison, a member of the board of directors of Cerona stated, “The SkyDSR-DT was selected for this program over several other offerings based in no small part on its outstanding performance and ease of use. The system will be used by combatant commanders to achieve mission-critical objectives. Product performance is essential when lives are at risk. We are proud and extremely excited that Cerona has been selected to provide the satellite technology that warfighters rely on.”
